I started taking new supplements at the end of February and my health started to immediately improve in small ways and big ones. The first things I took were superfruit juices: one a blend and the others one fruit type per bottle. I won’t lie, the blend is delicious, the single fruit ones take some getting used to. Fruit doesn’t always mean sweet or pleasantly palatable. But then, I’m not looking for candy, I’m looking for results.
I discovered that the more I drank the juices and the more I took the daily vitamin, the more tasty they actually became. Cleansing, building, balancing my body meant that it was changing from the inside out. And that was very obvious when my husband and I went to Mighty Fine Burgers – and our digestive systems were not happy for the rest of the day.
I also found that by taking these new supplements that I wasn’t voraciously hungry anymore. My whole plant, organic green matcha shake for lunch kept me satisfied well into my workout and up to dinner. My body, with the nutrients it needed, no longer sent signals to my stomach that it needed food, NOW!
That is not to say I didn’t feel hunger, but you know what I mean — there’s “I’m a bit peckish” and then there is “I could eat everything in the fridge and still eat a herd of cows…live.” My body was finally getting what it had been starving for.
With this change from the inside out, my body started losing the stubborn weight it had been clinging to. It was as if it didn’t want to get rid of the fat because it thought I was in a famine. And in a way, I was.
But… I’m not just interested in losing weight, I’m interested in building muscles. After years of dealing with hip dysplasia and then hip degeneration and then hip replacement at a young age I needed to build muscles that had never been made to work properly before, muscles that had atrophied. My hip muscles, quad muscles and my core all needed major help.
The new stuff I got came with products meant, I thought, for bodybuilders wanting to be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger. How wrong I was! It is, and should be, for anyone who wants to get more out of all aspects of the workout. I took the supplements before my routine (as instructed) and wondered what would happen. Turns out I had so much energy and stamina that I thought it must be my imagination.
So, the next day I did it again, and again, I got through the workout with more reps, more energy and I wasn’t dog tired by the end of it. With this new energy and stamina I doubled my results. And in less than a month I was stronger than I’d ever been, doing the same routine I’d done before but with very little to show for it. I could now do exercises in my 30-minute routine I hadn’t been able to do before, using heavier weights that I couldn’t lift before. I went longer during cardio without getting winded. It’s been incredible. I’m beginning to see what my body (me, the nerdy bookworm) is actually capable of.
After each session I felt great, sore, but great. I didn’t sit on the couch in an exhausted heap and fall asleep anymore after my workout. I felt (and still feel) so good that I wondered if something that works this well can really be organic, whole plant-based and legal. But it is. It’s even in the Physician’s Desk Reference.
So, a month in: I’d lost inches, my hair stopped shedding by the handfuls, I slept better, I was less hungry (and thus less inclined to snack between meals). I’d regained muscle and strength that I’d lost and headed toward having strength and stamina that I’ve only dreamed of. I can’t wait to see how I am in a few months time. This journey has been amazing and I am so excited to see where it leads. Thank you for sharing it with me!
Next I share my workout routine, and how it kicks my ass, in a wonderful way.
